Log Buying Guide
To make buying logs as easy as possible, we've split our wood fuels into three distinct categories; Kiln Dried Logs, Seasoned Logs and Unseasoned Logs. Each has its own unique qualities and everyone has a type of log that they prefer.
Kiln Dried Logs
Widely regarded as the best wood fuel that money can buy, these logs are dried in a purpose built kiln which dries them to an average moisture content of less than 20%. Kiln Dried Logs are ready to use the second you buy them and will produce a high heat output for long periods. Due to their extreme dryness they are also highly unlikely to cause damage to your appliance or chimney. Kiln Dried Logs are suitable for open fires, wood burners, multi-fuel stoves and cookers.
We provide these unrivalled logs in large Dumpy Bags, medium Handy Bags or small Dinky Bags.
Seasoned Logs are not as powerful as Kiln Dried Logs, but still produce good burning qualities and a medium heat output. They are dry and ready for use, with a moisture content of less than 30%. This type of log is good for use on wood burners, multi-fuel stoves, open fires and chimeneas.
Seasoned Logs are available in medium sized handy bags.
Unseasoned Logs are great value for money but will need to be self-seasoned before use. This is because they are wet and contain more than 50% moisture. To season, you will need to store in a cool, dry area for a period of around 12 months. Once properly seasoned, these will give you a good heat output for your fire. Please remember not to use unseasoned logs on your fire or appliance as it may cause damage.
Unseasoned Logs are available in large Dumpy Bags or Small Nets.
