Are there clear differences between seasoned and unseasoned logs?
An unseasoned log is one that has been freshly cut and therefore has a high moisture content of around 50%. A seasoned log will have been through a drying process over a period of time or through a purpose built kiln to reduce the moisture content to around 20%. A seasoned log will then burn more efficiently as it has less moisture to evaporate.
